I’m thrilled. No, I’m elated. Okay, I’m ecstatic to report to you that this week, this monumental week, something really big happened.
(No, I didn’t finish those books I’ve been working on, or win the lottery, though it sort of feels like it.)
This week we said goodbye to our temporary housing and our inflatable mattress (definitely a story for another post ;)) and FINALLY moved into our new home.
After months of being displaced and truthfully, feeling pretty lost, we actually got to sleep in a real bed this week – our bed – and yes, climbing into a bed that didn’t feel like one of those bouncy-houses that kids like to play in, sort of felt like winning the lottery.
As for all that’s transpired in the last several months – wow! – all I can say is, it’s been a head-spinning whirlwind.
Surreal – a descriptive that is always at the ready when referencing my life – probably best characterizes this little mid-life adventure of mine. Of ours. Certainly, prior to all the massive changes being set in motion I had already filed this move away into my mental “What I did for love” dossier, but I’m not sure I could ever have imagined how daunting or overwhelming these last months would actually be. The mammoth move, the relocation to another state, the emotional goodbyes, even sweet Bella getting sick – I don’t exactly know what I expected all of this to feel like, but right now it mostly just feels surreal.
So, I’ve decided to settle in here slowly. Take things one step at a time.
Our new home – a classic, 1980s Country French design – is in need of considerable updating, but it has great bones and with some strategic tweaking I know it will be amazing.
First things first, though. Time to unpack all those boxes and bags and create a little order amidst the chaos here.
Now that you know what I’ll be doing all weekend, what about you? Any fun plans on tap?
Whatever you’re up to, I wish you a wonderful weekend wherever in the world you happen to be.
Make it a good one! xox~M
