Spring is slated to arrive next week, and yet I think this is one due date that is going to have to be induced, at least here in the Windy City. This crazy winter weather – relentless this year – still has us in a vice grip and it doesn’t appear that it wants to let go.
On the bright side, my wardrobe possibilities have been endless this season, thanks to a massive coat collection. Yes, I’m a collector of coats – overcoats, peacoats, parkas, trenches – you name the style, I probably own it. I have coats for every season and in a myriad of colors, textures, patterns and silhouettes. A little obsessed for sure, but nothing can change the look of an outfit faster than a great looking coat or jacket.
And right now, despite what the calendar reads, the coat du jour is definitely one that is warm and wintery – like this red plaid bouclé topper I’m wearing.
Ah, the joys of living in a place where winter never ends. If nothing else, this weather has given me a chance to put a dent in that coat collection of mine.
As far as Spring’s arrival here in Chicago goes, not sure we’re going to be enjoying chirping birds or blooming flowers anytime soon – it’s snowing as I type this.
Hope the weather is better in your part of the world!

Merci, JL!
Love the boucle brightness! Spring will come eventually – winter has been RATHER challenging this year. How did you manage in Chicago? Heard it was crazy cold!!
Love your new look by the way – gorgeous site!
Thanks so much! And yes, crazy cold is a good way to describe it. The beauty of that first snowfall has long since worn off – enough with the white stuff already :)
Thanks for stopping by! ~Xox
Love coats and this one is so adorable…as you! Stay warm!
Robin, please tell me the weather will be better in your part of the world next week, because that’s where I plan on ringing in Spring – NYC :)
Hi there . Lovely outfit! I too love coats. I love the shape of yours. I dont have many though, as we live in Charlotte, and don’t need many winter coats, but there are so many pretty ones. Of course, I love the bag, maybe one day…
It is supposed to go down to 50-or so Fri here in Charlotte which is chillier than it should be.
i subscribed and look forward to reading more :-)
Hi Jess,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the follow! Though I’ve never been to Charlotte, I hear it’s just beautiful and hope to make it there one day. By the way, we would gladly take your 50-degrees ;)
Have a great day!
Love it Mary! Hopefully you can put your winter coat collection to rest and start bringing out the Spring coats :)

Now that is one coat I would love to add to my own collection. What a perfect way to brighten a wintery-spring day. I can’t wait to scroll through your blog and get a glimpse at some of your other fabulous coats. My husband is just leaving your city (well, trying to leave) and it does appear your in for some more winter. So glad you dropped by today so I had the opportunity to follow your great and inspiring blog. I look forward to this.

Thanks so much for your kind comments! Has your winter been as bad as ours? We’re starting to get delirious here from all the snow! It’s a good thing I love
coats ;)
I, too, love coats. Different shapes, styles, colors, you name it and I like it. However, this winter was so so cold I found myself wearing fewer of my coats as I had to rely on my warmest ones. Looking so forward to Spring!
BTW: I love your loose ponytail. I am going to give it a try!::))
You look fabulous in your coat, boots, purse, the works!
This coat is really cute, I love to see some colour in the cold season!
I’ll now go through your previous posts, you have a great style!
Actually here in Germany, we have had the mildest winter ever, hardly any snow, even not here in the Southern mountain area and I am enjoying lovely spring temperatures. All the snow and cold stayed in North America this winter!

Beautiful plaid jacket! The color combo is fantastic! Is it wool? I agree with you, a closet full of coats or jackets is a must have to survive a long cold drury winter
Thanks so much, Jackie! Yes, the coat is wool – a must for this awful weather :)
