The Maxi Coat

I wasn’t kidding when I told you I loved coats. Every kind and derivation, including maxi coats. You may have noticed that this style’s seemingly endless silhouette has made something of a resurgence this season, not so much for it’s practicality but for its dramatic flair. There’s no question that its significant length can up the drama quotient of any look. In my case, the heather grey, ankle-grazing maxi gives my basics – a sweater, jeans and boots – a nice boost. That drama easily segues into evening attire adding extra elegance when worn over a cocktail dress, floor-length gown or tuxedo. It’s this duality that makes the coat’s versatility undeniable. It also doesn’t hurt that you won’t have to sacrifice style to stay warm, which is probably what I love most about this coat. If you happen to be on the shorter side, what you might love most about this coat is that when tailored properly it will elongate your body and make you look taller.
