Happy September, friends! Hope you’re feeling rested and recharged after this long holiday weekend.  Except for a little late afternoon and evening rain on Sunday, our weather was perfect and gave me a chance to wear one of spring and summer’s hottest trends—lace shorts. I picked these up while in Nashville recently on what was a particularly hot and steamy day. Impulse shopping for sure, but I really needed to put something on that felt light and airy and these shorts fit the bill.

Ultra-feminine and surprisingly versatile, I’ve ended up reaching for these shorts more often than I thought I would lately. For my weekend barbeque I kept things super simple and classic by sticking with neutrals and adding just a pop of color with some great, gold gladiator sandals.

You could certainly change things up a bit by pairing these shorts with a chambray shirt for a more relaxed, casual vibe or by dressing them up with a black silk sleeveless top and a pair dress sandals. If edgy is more your thing, throw on a leather jacket and a pair of ankle booties and you’re all set. There are literally dozens of ways to wear them and a multitude of styles to choose from.

Thanks to the great city of Nashville and its steamy weather for creating the urge to splurge in the first place! {Though finding out that I paid 150-dollars for the same shorts that are now on sale at Piperlime for $34.97 kind of makes me want to retract my thank you—those hotel boutiques get you every time!}
