Good morning! Hope everyone’s week is going great!
Sharing my 70s-inspired button-front jeans with you today in a cut that has fast become one of my favorites. I mentioned last week when I wore these fabulous lace-up Khakis that I’m loving the cropped, high-waisted, wide-leg silhouette. This cut will still be big for fall when I’ll pair these Marc Jacobs’ beauties with a cropped sweater and booties.
I know this particular cut isn’t for everyone, though, but the good news about denim this season is that there are so many styles to choose from. Whether you go for the tried and true- hello, skinny jeans – or opt for more innovative cuts with standout details like embroidery, pearl embellishments, fringe or side stripes, finding your perfect pair has never been easier or more fun. Did I mention the myriad washes that denim is showing up in? From light wash, to vintage to inky blue, you name it, you will definitely find the hue you’re looking for.
Below, a roundup of the styles that I’ll be wearing this fall.
Cropped jeans are the perfect transitional denim. Wear them with mules now and sock booties later. Either way, the cut affords a flash of the ankle that will show off whatever shoe you choose to sport. Look for high-waisted, wide-leg or stovepipe straight-leg cuts.
Comfort and cool all in one cut, the boyfriend jean, with its borrowed from the boys silhouette, is most often thought of for casual affairs, but don’t underestimate its versatility. Do the unexpected and add a feminine shoe and a statement top and you’ve got a dressed up look that’s perfect for a night out on the town.
Still a major style staple in every woman’s closet, skinny jeans are classics that are just about as versatile as it gets. Layer them under a cozy sweater, or wear them with a blazer and OTK boots, whatever your pleasure, they will not let you down.
When it comes to denim, it’s always fun to add at least one creative cut to your closet mix. I’m particularly liking embellished (major splurge) and embroidered ( major steal!) jeans right now, and, of course, the fringe-hem is already taking up a lot of space in my wardrobe :)
Two-Tone models are also big for fall. These statement makers will definitely get you noticed. Bonus points for this styles slimming effect.
I can’t do a post on denim and not include one of my favorite silhouettes – flares. Tapered or super-flares, I love both cuts equally. You’ve seen me wear them here, here, and here. No matter the wash, I’ve always gravitated towards this particular style. Love the vintage vibe these beauties exude. Wear yours with platforms and a pretty top or boots and a black cashmere turtleneck sweater.

So much fun! I am loving the high waist and you wear it so well!
Thanks, Andrea! I think we love the high-waist so much because it takes us back to the 90s when that’s all we wore :)

Wow, you wear this look so well! I love the cropped denim on you. I’m not sure if I could pull it off, but I’m definitely going to try one of the many great styles you rounded up. So fun! Have a great weekend :)
Mary, you and I are perfectly in tune this week. I’ve posted my flared jeans with all sorts of beads and appliques for a vintage look and I must admit the shape is so easy to wear. Your darling cut jeans are so flattering on your slim figure too and I think I may have to keep an eye out for them on my next shopping trip.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead!

Funny, Laurie, I could see you in this cut. Go for a high-waist and a heel and I bet you’d look fabulous! Flares are my first choice, too, though:)
Those jeans look so great on you! I wish I could pull them off!

Thanks, Liz! This tends to be a tricky cut on anyone, but, as I told Jennie, it’s all about the fit and finding the right pair. I’ll bet you could pull them off beautifully!
Nice post!
Wow – you wear these jeans so well! I really admire this style of jeans on other women, but am not sure this particular trend is one I can pull off. Seeing your look here, it is making me consider at least trying! :)
