Good morning, everyone. I can’t proceed with this post – whose focus is purely superficial – until I acknowledge the people of France and the unfathomable tragedy that took place there this past Friday. Sending all in the City of Light my love, my prayers, my support. I stand with you.
On a lighter note, today’s outfit inspiration takes its cue from the pajama-style pant – a classic that’s definitely not just for sleeping. The pant I’m wearing – a silk pinstripe with a pleated front and fuller silhouette – is perfect for work or weekends. I wore mine to Sunday brunch yesterday, pairing them with a cozy sweater and lace up flats. Love the versatility of these pants and the comfortable, chic vibe they project. How about you? Any pajama-style pants in your wardrobe rotation?

Such a pretty look!
Everything else seems so trivial, doesn’t it? My heart just breaks for them and all the world…
I’ve been peeking into your blog for the past view days. I didn’t comment under your post with a picture of Paris as I was speechless in the face of such traumatising events. I must say I do appreciate how you approached this difficult subject. Talking about superficial matters seems trivial in comparison. I faced a similar thing when one of my (funny) articles was featured at a major site on Saturday morning. I just couldn’t bring myself to promote it while hundreds of people around us were mourning for loved ones, and everyone, including us a few miles away from Paris, was in a state of shock in this time of terror. I find that for all of us here in France (just like for all New Yorkers a few years back) there is the life before and after Friday, the 13th. How are we suppose to carry on with our daily activities in the face of war? I’m speechless, traumatised and terrified.

I like you couldn’t ignore what happened in Paris and wrote a post about it yesterday. So very sad.
You have convinced me in trying the pajama style pants. Your look so chic for this brunch look. The blouse peeking underneath the sweater is so polished and I need some lace up black flats like those.
Happy Monday Mary!

Love the layered look and back to your sweater! You look lovely!
Hi Mary, thank you for visiting my blog and introducing me to yours. You are clearly one of those elegant women I was talking about in my post. You are so polished and chic, and everything I’m not. I think you look utterly adorable in this ensemble today, and particularly like the shirt peeping out under the sweater – it’s so cute.
I shall read a little more about your background every time I visit. You wrote so beautifully about your mother. Lovely.

I am totally with you on the sadness of Paris. I even feel a little scared about travelling around London at the moment. I love your style! but I love how you portray it even more. Like a glossy magazine shoot.
