Don’t you just love Giovanna Battaglia’s style aesthetic? The contributing fashion editor at W Magazine has been a style standout at Fashion Week both here and abroad this season, captivating photographers with her Audrey Hepburn-esque allure and her exquisite wardrobe choices.
What makes her such a style standout in my book is that she doesn’t seem to follow trends. Whatever the season, she is a master at taking any look and putting her clearly defined Giovanna-stamp on it. Whether she’s playing the androgynous muse or the oh-so-lovely lady, she does so with an approach that is all her own.
What I admire most about Giovanna, is her exacting eye and her flair for choosing an amazing array of fabrics, patterns, and silhouettes. She’s not afraid to play with color or texture. I love the tweed bouclé shift dress above. It’s chic simplicity at its best.
Take note of the design elements she incorporates into her choices below—great architecture, attention to subtle nuances, like the baring of one shoulder, and cinching in her waist with a great belt—I have yet to see her miss the mark, which is why she is among my favorite modern day style icons.
