Keeping things simple today with three closet classics that will never fail you, wardrobe workhorses that make getting dressed easy and are guaranteed to elevate any look.
It doesn’t get anymore classic than a navy blue blazer, a throw on and go kind of staple that’s a must-have for any woman. Its year-round appeal means you can slip into it anytime, any season and look put-together even when you don’t feel like it ( and we all have those days every once in awhile, right?!) ). Mine is from Rag & Bone and is cut long and lean with a single button closure and a strong shoulder, giving it a modern edge. I also love this double-breasted take from L’Agence and this button-cuff beauty from Veronica Beard. This is one of those classics that’s worth investing in since you’ll be able to wear it for years and years. That said, there are also steals out there to be had, like this one and this one.
Two-Tone Cap-Toe Heels
I love the chic, understated vibe of my Chanel block heel slingbacks. They are the perfect neutral and another outfit elevator, to be sure. While the classic two-tone cap toe goes with just about everything I mostly wear mine with jeans. They are on the pricey side but these are similar and a steal!
I have loved top-handle handbags for as long as I can remember and have owned a couple in my collection for so long they’ve now become vintage, in particular the one seen in this post. I love the feminine, retro-vibe this style of bag exudes. It’s just plain pretty. That’s certainly the case with today’s garnet, Tory Burch beauty. It adds just the right amount of color and style to my look. There are a plethora of top handle bags available right now in every color, texture and fabric, not to mention price point, including this one (splurge), this one and this one.

With you 100%. My navy blue blazer is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I hope you have a beautiful day! We’re flying high on ND being #3 in the polls. Woohoo!
Yes, yes, it’s so exciting! They are looking so good this year!
Have a wonderful weekend!
These are all classics! I love the navy blazer and totally need one. I only have a black blazer but I’m adding navy to my must buy list!

Thanks, Ruth! I have to say my black blazer gets plenty of wear, too. It’s seriously part of my daily uniform.
Have a great weekend!
Classic and beautiful pieces. I really need to invest in a nice navy blazer. I have one but it’s on the cheap side and not as nice.
Brooke
pumps and push-ups
When you can, it’s always worth the investment.
Have a great weekend, Brooke!
I own none of these things haha, but I can see why it’s a must have!

Ha! Well, maybe I’ve convinced you to at least add a navy blazer to your wardrobe. You won’t regret it :)
Agree! I love the classic navy blue blazer! With jeans and you are fit!
Love how easily a blazer elevates a basic pair of jeans and a top :)
Enjoy your weekend!
Very nice outfit ;)

Thanks so much!
The first thing I thought about you moving away Mary was how much I was going to miss the fabulous scenery that you provided in your last abode. And then this happens! Sleek and modern gorgeous photography to show of your perfect as per usual wardrobe! xx
Oh, Laurie, not to worry. We haven’t moved to the city permanently. We still live and work in another state but we now also have a Chicago apartment, as well. It was always our plan to get a small place where we could stay when we visit (which for me will be often :)) and while you will likely see a lot more city photography on the blog you’ll still see plenty of country in the background of my photos. We basically have the best of both worlds and feel very blessed. Sorry for the confusion. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Love this look! I would wear any of the pieces you’re modeling, and I love that bag!
