Happy Friday, everyone! I’m talking about details today, the idea that the most subtle design elements and accessories can take your basics to a whole other level and set you on a path for creating your own signature style. I’m always on the lookout for classics with those little nuanced details that speak to my own style aesthetic, details like the saddle leather, side-belting of the pencil skirt I’m wearing today. The long, lean silhouette of this classic skirt remains intact, but the front zip and side buckles are unique features that set it apart. It’s still elegant and uncomplicated but, with a twist.
Its versatility is limitless. I’ve chosen to wear it with a shirt tucked in, and have added animal print pumps and a rich, brown top-handle bag to complete the look. If the skirt’s body conscious styling is not your thing you can wear an oversized sweater and pumps, as I did here or add some tailored layering as I did here. There really is a look for every body type, options that allow you to take your pencil skirt anywhere you want to go. Just make sure to look for those details.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend wherever in the world you happen to be. Make it a good one! xox-M

It was such a delight to come across this wonderful site created by my old grade school friend. Remember “Margaret” from St. John’s? Your style is such an inspiration. Although my income wouldn’t allow me to purchase most of the items featured, I love trying to find more budget-friendly versions of your fabulous choices. Thanks!
So chic and sophisticated – I love the details on your skirt. Thanks for sharing.
