I’m often asked about my beauty routine – more specifically what makeup products I use. I feel confident in saying that over the years I have likely tried them all – foundations, bronzers, beauty balms – but for nearly ten years I’ve remained devoted to a few lines – Clé de Peau for one – and rarely deviate from my routine.
Without further ado this is what’s currently in my makeup bag –
Beauty Balm:
I discovered Trish McEvoy Beauty Balm last year and absolutely love it. It’s a great all-in-one skin perfecter that can be worn alone or under makeup. When I want minimal coverage I use this in place of my foundation. Added bonus – an SPF35.
Foundation: When I’m looking for more coverage than my BB cream offers I use products by Clé de Peau. During the summer months I usually use their Refining Fluid Foundation. In the winter I use their Silky Cream Foundation. Both give skin a beautiful, dewy finish.
Concealer: Hands down, Clé de Peau’s concealer is the best on the market. This is by far my favorite beauty product.
Bronzer: I rarely if ever use blush, but always give my face a dusting of bronzing powder. My go-to choice for years and years is made by Guerlain. It gives my skin the perfect golden glow.
Eye Shadow:
Clé de Peau satin eye color.
Mascara:
Always Definicils, black.
Lip pencil:
Chanel nude or rose, depending on my mood.
Lipstick:
My go-to lipstick is always one of several shades from YSL or Laura Mercier.
Eyebrows: I’ve never been very good about doing my eyebrows. During my high school days I got a hold of a pair of tweezers and went to town turning my beautiful thick brows into a waif thin version of their former selves. While I certainly have eyebrows they’ve never really grown back to their former fullness. I’ve had my brows done by the famed Anastasia at her Beverly Hills Salon and she did an amazing job. It’s her products I use on my brows when I remember to do them (which is rarely) though her handy little stencil kit makes filling in your brows a snap.

Whatever the products or routines keep doing what your doing… You look great.
Merci, JL! As always, thanks for your kind words!
Hi Mary
I, being of fair skin, am a believer in sunscreen or products with SPF in them. I do like Perricone MD moisturizer, but would also like to try some new night cream and day moisturizers. I do like Bobbi Brown’s moisturizer and eye cream. Discovering primer years ago, I do love the way after the moisturizer, that it does hold the makeup better for me, and give the look a better finish. I would be interested in looking up the concealer and moisturizer you speak of, Clea De Peau, as I am not familiar.
I do use clay and avacado masks in the bath, about 3 days a week. As far as makeup, I love Nars illuminating foundation, Primer I use either Nars or Smashbox, and for makeup I love MAC lipsticks as they are creamy have lots of color selections and last. Eyeshadows are a collection of BB, Chanel, NARS, MAC. I also like the brick highlighter blushes from Bobbi Brown. I need a good eye cream. I will look into your suggestions as well. I have been told I have great skin, which I do think is also a combination of diet, taking care of it, genetics.
You also have amazing skin and your products are obviously working. :-) As far as eyebrows, I get mine threaded. Best thing since sliced bread! I had Brooke Shield’s eyebrows in middle school, no threading back then. I love how they can shape an arch the brow with this technique.

Just a quick question. I did look up the moisturizer, and although it obviously works, might you have a more “budget friendly” idea of a great moisturizer? How long does the 1oz last you?
xo jess
Hi Jess,
First off, thanks for sharing all your beauty products! It’s always fun learning what other people are using on their skin. Never heard of “eyebrow threading” but will definitely read up on it. And yes, I agree with you, much of good looking skin has to do with diet and genetics. Clearly you have great genes, as your skin is gorgeous!
Regarding the BB cream I use, while I agree it’s pricey, a little goes a long way. I’ve had the same tube since last August! Still feels like there’s plenty in the tube, too :)
Awesome stuff you got there in your bag Mary…..no wonder you look so fresh!!!

You’re so kind – thanks, Rebecca!
Thanks for sharing! I’ve been looking for a good bronzer for summer. I’ll have to give Guerlain a try. I use mostly NARS products (foundation, bronzer, blush and shadow) but would love to branch out!
Thanks for sharing, Kate! Trading secrets is fun, isn’t it ;)
Keep using what you are because you always look fantastic! In the last couple years, I have been using mainly Dr. Perricone Products and La Mer (I do not think I will ever give that up) and I just introduced some Jan Marini into my skincare routine. Having been a sun worshipper for way too many years I believe what I am using has helped keep my skin from aging too fast! Have you heard about the Nerium product that is supposed to be amazing for anti-aging? Not sure if I should try it or not.
Thanks so much for sharing your current favorites, Michele! I’ve never heard of Nerium but I will definitely check into it. As for the products you’re using, to steal your words, keep using them because you look fantastic! Have a wonderful weekend! xox~M
Thanks Mary. SInce you were talking about your makeup bag, and mentioned Definicils Mascara , I wanted to say I used to use that and it is great but MAC has one called “False Eyelashes” even though it is their minimal mascara product! Never clumps, etc. Also, “Tubing Mascara” is a favorite of mine with the primer. Cheap by Loreal. Makes lashes thick and long. So, here is the trick, Cindy Crawford, the model, states always use a kleenex tissue to wipe off some of the mascara before applying. Then just apply more coats. Totally works.
Some fantastic products you’re using here mary. I think the eyebrow stencil kits are great for blondes. Have you tried a Grey shade? Please do! it looks fab on light brow hair and looks so natural on fair skin. And it doesn’t look grey!
