Simplicity and solitude – gifts that my recent travels afforded me in abundance. It’s funny how a change of scenery can ultimately end up being so kind to the soul, how it can shift your focus from high-velocity living to the elegant subtleties that can only be found in the slow lane. In fact, travel offers freebies galore – fresh new perspectives, illuminating experiences, even a chance to rediscover your true self – gifts I had the pleasure and the privilege of enjoying during my time away.
The balmy breezes of South Florida weren’t just great for my head either, the heavenly climate also gave me a chance to shed all the heavy layers I’ve been wearing in Chicago in favor of easy summer style. This chic little shift dress I’m wearing is one of my wardrobe favorites (I know, more black ;)). I’ve had it for years and it proves that classics never go out of style. On a side note I have to say that it felt wonderfully freeing to bare my arms and legs again. Simple pleasures.

Merci, JL :)
So cute! Love the dress, and especially love those sandals!
Thanks, Kate!
I’m fortunate enough to live in a climate similar to South Florida, where the baring of limbs is quite frequent. You look so free in your simple, yet chic dress. I was beginning to think I was the only one who purchased those adorable Zara sandals. I have them in silver and I adore them!
Thanks so much, Glenda! I have the sandals in silver, too :) Love them!
Hi Mary

Thanks, Jess! Haven’t been able to show much off until I made it to Florida. I just love the warm weather! And so many more wardrobe choices!
How true, how true! A change of scenery is always so great for the soul and mind:) Don’t you just love pieces like your black dress that become staples? Bonus that you have had it for a while.
Cheers,
Alyson

Hoping the weather in this neck of the woods will allow us to wear outfits at cute as yours. . .but the temperatures here are not cooperating!
Now that I’m finally back in Chicago, I’m hoping for the same thing you are – warmer weather ;)
