The always fabulously stylish Anna, from Anna’s Island Style invited me recently to join her and a few other bloggers for a ping pong post. No hand-eye coordination required. Just four different takes from around the globe on styling a summer staple – a beach/pool coverup.

First up is Anna, the proprietress of a small art gallery near Cornwall, England, who also happens to be a fearless fashion blogger who continually dazzles me with her artful sense of style.

Beach Coverups

How fun is Anna’s beach coverup?! She found this fitted, white, ruffle-hem beach dress in a charity shop earlier this summer and says it reminded her of a Lady Gaga costume. What a lucky find! Anna puts the finishing touch on her look with the addition of a colorful hat and bright red sandals.

Samantha from Fake Fabulous knows how to keep Scotland’s chilly summer breezes at bay. This gorgeous blogger who also happens to be a biomedical scientist, prides herself on keeping it real, so it’s no surprise that her coverup of choice is a toasty warm, wool sweater paired with brightly colored cotton shorts, topped off with a quilted vest. Sam admits her look is not very St. Tropez, but, hey, when there’s a stiff beach wind blowing who wants to be cold? I’d likely be wearing a parka :)

The Pacific-Northwest is also on the cool side this summer and the beautiful Ann from Kremb de la Kremb knows just how to handle it. The high school librarian at an international school in Hong Kong, says that when the winds kick up at the family’s summer lake house in Idaho, she reaches for an old favorite – a cozy, white fisherman sweater. When not in need of the sweater, Ann favors cutoffs as her coverup of choice.

I took a modern, classic approach to my coverup and chose a lighter than air frilly maxi dress with just enough exposure to keep me cool while I’m sitting under an umbrella :) Since I am not a sunbather this is the perfect solution for me, and as day turns into night I’m good to go for cocktails at the beach or poolside without worrying about having to change. Gotta love that versatility.

How about you? What’s your coverup style?
