Say hello to my go-to summer dress—a dress we’ve laughingly been referring to around here as my race car driving dress. Yes, it does indeed look like one of those checkerboard pattern black and white racing flags used to signal the winner of a race. But I digress.

Zara Dress {no longer available} // Chanel Handbag   // Manolo Blahnik Shoes {old}

I happened to stumble upon this find quite by accident while reading one of my favorite lifestyle blogs, VMAC & Cheese, written by the lovely Victoria McGinley. A link from her page took me to a mega-retailer’s website— Zara. The next thing you know I’m buying this checkerboard dress. I must admit I was skeptical about whether the pattern would be too overwhelming for me {or my eyes}. It’s definitely not the easiest of patterns to pull off, but as it turns out this dress is perfect! And the best part of all is that it was a steal!

The checkerboard pattern has a cool, retro vibe but feels fresh and modern because of its easy silhouette. It has killer versatility and works perfectly for both day or night. Simply change your shoes to change your look.

Turns out calling this my race car driving dress is pretty apropos, as this dress wins hands down as my best purchase of the summer.

Did this summer find you wearing the checkerboard trend?
