OK, so maybe it was a little more than 5 minutes with Joe. Once you read more about him you’ll see why.

I met Joe over the holidays in the midst of my Christmas shopping. I happened to be cutting through Nordstrom on my way to another store when I stopped briefly in the men’s department to look at a pair of shoes. Up walked Joe and asked if I needed assistance.

(I typically don’t like being shadowed by anyone when I’m shopping but this whole experience was something altogether different.)

Forget that Joe elevated the customer experience above and beyond my expectations. He did that and then some.

It was more than that.

The full-time sales associate and college student had an authenticity and maturity (he’s only 20!) that kind of floored me and his “glass is half full” enthusiasm for life convinced me that he is definitely someone you should know.

Meet Joe –

Joe-2

Hometown:

I proudly hail from Boston Massachusetts.

Word that best describes you:

Confident

Person who has had the greatest impact on your life and why:

My Father, Kevin.

While growing up we never had the financial capability to live a life above our means, but there was never a day where our family went without life’s basic essentials. He worked long hours and was often away from home five days a week, but he did this because he loved my brothers and I. All of that aside, the greatest impact he had on my life was instilling an incredible work ethic, and passing on his Goveia personality and charisma to me.

Biggest accomplishment:

This is an interesting question! In correlation with a grand scheme, I have done absolutely nothing. I like to think that my goals and ambitions are significantly more than my peers and those around me. With that being said, my biggest accomplishment will be the day when my name is synonymous, worldwide, with the absolute best at whatever my craft turns out to be.

How do you define success?

My definition of success is not a typical one. My definition of success does not necessarily mean I will be the wealthiest…My definition of success is the day when I stop working, I can reflect on my life and say “ I gave every single day my 100% effort and those who ever met/worked with me, will not forget the name Joseph William Goveia.”

Favorite wardrobe item is:

My tan Santoni loafers. Without a doubt, it’s my favorite article of clothing I’ve ever had!

You’d never be caught dead in:

Overalls
